Prioritising lived experience, Summers emotive works entrust an involvement. Inspired by participation, environment and belief his ideas surface inadvertently, invoked by a process committed to writing. Raw charcoal reflects these impulsive writings, transporting written thoughts into the visual, as paint embodies atmosphere and figures reflect the physical. An intimacy exists between the paintings and artist, as time is surrendered to each work where control and resignation undulate. An intentional yet unpredictable approach, imagination acts as a filter to execution. This play is reflected in moments of chaos and calm, as figures are found within themselves, one another, and other.
